Anointing of God Versus Indwelling of the Holy Spirit

Once you have accepted Jesus, confess your sins, and profess him as your savior. You will then receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Meaning, you have opened the window of your soul (heart) to receiving the Eternal Spirit of God. From that day, you start growing in the Spirit of God as you learn to yield all your earthly desires in control of the Spirit. Total surrender to the Spirit of God is what many Christians find difficult. Some have left the faith because they do not want to be under the control of the Eternal Spirit of God. Why? People want to do their own thing and do not want to have to answer to anybody including God. Such human error is the false notion that we are created for ourselves not realizing the Creator made us for his own purpose. God being so kind, merciful and a great advocate for personal rights, allows people the choice not to obey him, if they so choose. Eventually, people who have rejected God face the consequences because they can never find true peace without the Creator.

The key component of sanctification is surrender. As a Christian, you go through the gradual process of yielding to the Holy Spirit of God and being transformed by renewing of your mind. The goal of walking in the Spirit of God is to be transformed to the image of God the Son, through spirit purification and soul cleansing. This process by itself is a daily battle for a lifetime. Yielding to the Spirit is not yielding to the human spirit. Some Christians are being misled by idol worshippers that, yielding to the Spirit means yielding to human spirit, human emotions, or other spirits. Yielding to the Spirit means surrendering to the Holy Spirit of God. If you yield to human spirit, you are worshipping yourself, or the spirit of your spiritual leader. You can also yield to other spirits in the universe that allow you to perform miracles and wonders. The end of such endeavor is eternal damnation and destruction! God warned us never to yield to seducing spirits. For this reason, I discourage Christians from involving in Yoga exercise. You can call it Christian exercise and achieve better results. When you meditate, do so in the Word of God and use Christian music to soak in the realm of God. The plane that you board determines your destination. If you want to go to New York, don’t take the plane going to Canada. Similarly, the spirit that you connect with determines your spiritual destination. Yoga is more than bending and stretching, it is about connecting and reaching a spiritual power outside of a person. In the process, some people ended up connecting to other ungodly spirits leading them astray from God. At times, people enter into a life of insidious torment with these spirits even though they call themselves Christians. Some of these people have encountered sudden unexpected death because they allow the spirit of God’s enemy to seduce them. Enter ungodly spirits dimension at your own risk. Never open your soul and worship any spirit except that of the Holy Spirit of God.

Super Special Assignments

All Christians are given assignments by the Lord to serve his purpose and preach the gospel. However, there are some special messengers, called the elect sent on earth for the Lord’s super special assignments. Many of these people work in the ministry serving the Lord. Others also worked outside the Christian ministry fulfilling the purpose of their mission on earth.

These messengers sent on super special assignments are given mantles for the assignments given to them before they arrived on earth. Some may receive their mantle after their arrival on earth. A mantle represents a spiritual coat, a jacket, or an invisible garment given to a messenger to serve God’s purpose. The mantle contains all what the person needs to fulfill God’s purpose in the earthly realm. It contains the assignment, empowerment through anointing, specific missions, directions, Spirit and power of God. The purpose of the anointing is to serve God’s purpose. Today, people refer to these anointing as "spiritual gifts" according to Paul in his letters. Spiritual gifts are different from natural talents. Everyone born on this earth is given natural talents. Everyone does not have spiritual gifts except those anointed by the Holy Spirit. Everybody who has been anointing by the Holy Spirit has spiritual gifts in addition to natural talents. Spiritual gifts are meant purposely for ministry, not for a messenger to get rich and start preaching prosperity gospel to justify his own greed. Yes, you can use your spiritual gifts to help in discerning process of making a decision. It helps to make everyday decisions because the Holy Spirit will lead you to the truth. Both natural talents and spiritual gifts can be used to serve in the Lord’s ministry.

Everyone indwelling with the Holy Spirit can also engage his power to make regular decisions outside the ministry. Engage and enlarge the Holy Spirit within by praying, fasting and meditation daily on the Word of God. We need to be careful however. Some preachers in the ministry today have gone the way of the Wall Street scam artists. They are bleeding people for their money and offering spiritual manifestations in return. This is not the Lord’s desire. When Jesus empowered his disciples, he said, "Freely you receive and freely you give" (St. Matthew 10:8). Meaning, don’t charge people for the healing process, or other services through the power of the Holy Spirit. I’m not advocating that preachers should live in abject poverty, but this prosperity gospel has to go! It’s a message from the devil’s strategy of deception. All of you preachers amassing millions of dollars while your members are suffering imagine what God will ask you on arrival in Heaven. Do you think the story told by Jesus of Lazarus and the rich man applies to you? Jesus warned us about the deception of riches. He isn’t kidding! "Not all those who call me Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven except those who do the will of my father" (St. Matthew 7:21).

At times, a messenger may be going through some challenges for days. Perhaps he may be under attack, or dealing with personal challenges, or difficult situations. In continuous prayer for days, something happens when he experiences a breakthrough. The portals of Heaven open up before him. This breakthrough happens because of the arrival of a "breaker anointing." This will be discussed in another article.

Working in the Anointing

Jesus said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those that are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord," (St. Luke 4: 18-19).

This is Jesus Christ’s mission statement regarding his mission on earth. He declared that the purpose of his anointing was to serve God’s purpose on super special mission for God the Father. Every messenger on special assignment is given anointing for special purpose to achieve special missions. The empowerment by the Holy Spirit is one thing for every Christian. Those on special assignments are given, in addition to the Holy Spirit, special anointing. The Holy Spirit therefore serves as a receptacle for the mantle for those sent on special assignments. The critical point is for those on special assignment for the Lord not to lose their anointing. Once a messenger loses the anointing, he becomes a play toy for the devil. A Christian can retain the indwelling of the Holy Spirit while at the same time loses the special anointing to serve the Lord in ministry.

When the Lord sends you on a mission, he will give you all the anointing you need to achieve the purpose. This is very important to stress because some people just want to do their own thing. And when it does not work they start to blame God. Similarly, God gave knowledge and wisdom to people for building the temple.

"And God hath filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship" (Exodus 35:31).

John echoed the same issue about the anointing of the Holy Spirit

"But the anointing which ye have received of him abide in you, and ye need not that any man teaches you; but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him" (I John 2:27).

Jesus also said, "The Holy Spirit will lead you to all truth" (St. John 16:13).

Be careful with some spiritual leaders following ungodly spirits and leading Christians astray, just to be famous.

Upon receiving this anointing, you will spiritually be energized and blessed with words of knowledge. However, you must learn to receive and take instructions from the Lord from opening of the portal gates of Heaven. Receiving instructions from the Lord is very critical to a ministry. This instruction is the authority we need to execute God’s plan on earth. If you are no longer receiving continuous messages and instructions from the Lord, you are walking more in the flesh than in the Spirit of God. You may retain both the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the anointing to serve, but have disconnected the radio station of God from your spiritual ears. You can no longer hear the Lord’s messages or his instructions. When I hear preachers saying they have not heard the voice of God in years, I know they are dwelling more in the flesh than in the Spirit of God. Walking in the Spirit of God is very important to retain a Spirit communication line with the Lord Jesus. Those who lost communication have allowed the things of the world to seduce them from the Spirit of God. In many of the cases, these messengers still retain their anointing while they choose to follow their own directions or the way of the world. They justify their actions even though it is not God ordained. Other messengers may lose their anointing to serve, particularly when they keep doing things contrary to God’s desires. In such a situation, the pastor may be sleeping with wives of men in the church, or being involved in drugs and in all kinds of sins. Such messengers fall into sins and continued to use the house of God for their own personal objectives to get rich at the expense of Jesus. These are the messengers misrepresenting God to the people. May God have mercy on them.

Energy of the Anointing

Anytime the anointing comes upon a messenger, he will experience the physical manifestations of the power of God on his body. His physical body becomes the radiance of God’s glory. Other people will also feel that radiance. Before he goes on a spiritual assignment, he has to make preparation by mounting on the anointing Spirit of God. It’s like the Book of Isaiah, "Those who wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with winds like eagles, they shall run and not weary, they shall walk and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31).

This verse describes the mounting of energy of the anointing of God. Without mounting up with the energy, you may face insurmountable challenge by the enemy. The enemy is therefore able to beat up on you because you open the door.

A pastor and his wife told me a few months ago. They went to pray for some friends. In the house, they faced spiritual challenge which manifested in emotional attack by the person they went to pray for. I asked the pastor questions. Did you and your wife pray before leaving home? His answer was negative. I then asked him. How can you go to war without being prepared? I explained to him that each time a preacher goes into any territory, he may encounter negative location spirits who already claimed the area. Prior to arrival in such a location, he has to first pray for ignition of his anointing power. Then he commands the location spirits in such area to disband as he announces his arrival. The same situation for a preacher arriving at a hotel, he binds the spirit. As his plane is landing after prior spiritual preparation at home, he announces to the location spirits to disband. Preparation is very critical when on a journey to serve the Lord. Throughout the Old Testament God taught the spiritual leaders especially Moses how to prepare the children of Israel to meet with him in the temple. Today we prepare for worship by prayers of spiritual ascension.

At times the location spirits may want to put up a fight. Location spirits may be demonic spirits, human perverted spirits, or spirits from other ungodly dimensions. That’s when the messenger calls for air strikes. First, he announces his name and telling the location spirits that he arrives in the power of God Almighty through the anointing of Christ’s blood by the Holy Spirit. In many of the cases they will disband. If the preacher feels a little punch in his heart as if a negative energy, the spirits may want to fight. He then calls the air strikes of the cherubim with the swords of thunder, the ones with the swords of lightening, and the third group with the sword of fire. He will position them in front of the hotel and in front of his hotel room. Following this, he will invite the ministering Spirits and the angelic forces of protection to descend into his hotel room using Psalm 91 and 121 and 23. Once they arrive, he will experience movements in the air of the invisible Spirits of God. There will also be a change in the atmosphere inside the room indicating the arrival of divine Spirits. In the presence of the divine Spirits, the messenger will experience the supernatural peace of God. In some very difficult situations when the negative spirits refuse to leave seen in people possessed by demons, the next Spirit fire to call is that of the Angel Holy Michael. On calling the Holy Michael who is the commander in chief of all the armed forces in Heaven, he will dispatch the legion of his fighting forces. He immediately clears the location. Jesus talked about these fighting forces of Heaven before going to the cross. They don’t take hostages and no earthly power can withstand them. During the reign of King David, one of these angelic forces threw one grenade killing about 70,000 people (II Samuel 24: 15-16). Even when God saw the destruction this angel was doing, he asked him to stop! "It’s enough stay your hand" (II Samuel 24: 16).

Losing and Regaining Anointing

The greatest and most scary danger a messenger faces is losing his special anointing of God. It’s like losing your special position in God’s Spirit realm. Once you do, you become a play toy for the devil. He will then start making mockery of you. If you are able to listen to God’s warning by those he sends to warn you, it may create opportunity for you to repent. If you repent, you may regain your anointing and ministry. But, if you refuse to repent, you may lose the anointing forever, just like King Saul did. Samson temporarily regained his anointing back after he surrendered it at the lustful temple of illicit desires of the flesh. The greatest danger hanging over a messenger who refuses to repent is the risk of sudden death. God will eventually take an offending messenger who refuses to repent out of this world, to prevent continuous profaning of his name.

Here is Jesus warning about a church losing the anointing angel, "Nevertheless, I have this against you that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen, repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lamp stand from its place, unless you repent" (Revelation 2:4-5).
